Micah Talk

A few days ago we were in the car.  I challenged the girls to be kind and helpful to each other and even to strangers, giving examples of holding a door open for someone, or picking something up someone else drops.  It led to a discussion on stranger-danger, and Micah says... "Well I will fight strangers.  With my knives." The other girls erupted in laughter, uncontrollably. Micah: "No, wait, that's not what I meant.  Stop laughing.  That's not what I meant.  STOP!" Me: "Girls, stop laughing.  Listen to her, she's trying to explain what she meant." Micah: "Yea.  I meant I will fight them with swords."

This is a lot of work

Documenting our life is sometimes a lot of work.  Mostly in the form of time.  I start dozens of projects that never really get finished, have dozens more ideas that never get started, and lists of stuff .  I think I like to be busy. This blog would be an easy thing to drop.  The other day, though, I caught Copper reading from our MixBook (print out of our blog with pictures) to the little girls and I LOVED listening to their laughter from old pictures and stories.  I guess it's my little contribution to family history in the present tense. So it stays. And here's a catch up of the last few weeks:  Two little ones apparently worn out at the park, and Copper going strong on the swing  June and July we caught up on year well-child checks.  Copper's a whopping 37 pounds and 40" tall.  Dakota is 29 pounds and 30" and Micah is 27 pounds and 30".  We just saw Inside Out at the theater.  The reviews were right: Disney c...

Kota: Mom, will you play house with me? Me: Sure Kota: Do you know how to be a mom? Me: I think so... Kota: Okay, you be the mom then. Micah: Oh look, there's the summertary Me: That's the cemetery. Micah: Oh I just forgot.

God Bless America!

"America will never be destroyed from the outside.  If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." (Abraham Lincoln) I'm not tolerant or happy or accepting of most political endeavours. Before anyone begins, I don't need lectures on loving everyone or about human 'rights'.  I'm good. Specifically, I am not okay with the government mandating gay marriage.  I think this is a great step away from God and from the Christianity our nation was founded on.  I am disappointed in the attitude of "it won't affect me" because ultimately it affects everything, specifically the world and society I'm raising my children in.  I will not have them tolerate things which go against our beliefs and our testimonies about life, Christ, and traditional families.  They are being raised to be kind and loving and serving.  But tolerating, no.  I think it jeopardizes everything about God's plan, literally  everything.   ...

Four Years Old!?!?

Look who's four!  We were so excited to celebrate four years with these girls and we are so blessed to have them in our family. At four years old, both of them: get dressed/undressed without help write their names (when they feel like it) know their letters, numbers, and shapes count to 20 ride scooters and training wheel bikes draw pictures of our family talk up a storm For their birthday day, we woke up and hit Lehi Bakery for a donut breakfast.  I packed candles and a lighter because I knew they wouldn't wait until we got home to eat them.  So we sang in the parking lot.  Dakota looks annoyed but thought it was great!  We dropped off dad (who had to work) and then van to get the I/M done.  While waiting, we bought fireworks and walked to McDonald's to play.  After going home and showering we went to the dollar store and they were a-m-a-z-e-d to walk out with four presents each.  I had to remind them they already got...

Vacay

Every year we go on a little vacation to Salt Lake City.  By 'every year' I mean we went last year and this year.  Copper got the girls calling it our "vacay".  This year we decided to make it real by heading through Midway and Parley's to get to SLC.  Stretch out the normally 20-minute drive. Haha.  Micah woke up with a fever.  Probably thanks to Dakota, who had it two days before.  We decided to go anyway and just drug her up for the weekend if needed.   We first went to Wasatch National Park and fed the ducks. Midway is beautiful.  I held Micah almost the whole time while Copper and Dakota went through 10 pieces of old bread in less than two minutes.  Lucky ducks, literally.  We walked around the pond and hit the playground before heading to Heber for ice cream at the Dairy Keen. Once we made it through Parley's, we went to the zoo.  The dinos were a hit, except for the ones that squirted water. ...
