Work

Most days at work I carry on, roll my eyes and shake my head, chatter in exasperation,  and laugh away stress with friends.  But sometimes, and sorry for the dramatics, it's like literal stabs in the heart and unavoidable rising heartache. Kinda sucks.

Pumpkins

Yesterday we went to Thanksgiving Point for a pumpkin festival.  We got there just in time to see Utah's largest ever pumpkin- just shy of 2, 000 pounds.  It's ginormous.  Apparently the winning grower gets a big prize and a bazillion people taking pictures.  So we snapped some of loser pumpkins, which were still huge.  The gals practiced hula-hooping and we had ice cream.  Good times.

Hair Cutting

Two days ago Tim found a bunch of stuffed animal fur and some stuffed animal stuffing on the floor of the twins room, right next to a pair of scissors. They were all Dakota's stuffed animals. Unfortunately my mind went straight to Micah because that kind of just sound like something she might try. So privately asked her about it and she adamantly denied. I told her she wouldn't be in trouble and talked about how important it was to tell the truth. She still adamantly denied and suggested it was probably the cat. When I said nope she then suggested it was probably Taryn and even went as far as saying she saw Taryn go into the room with scissors. I asked her if she felt more comfortable not talking about it and instead she could write down who she thought might have done it. She eagerly nodded and then came back with a paper that spelled THE CAT. Several times throughout the day I gave her opportunities to talk about it. I even went to Copper and asked her if she did it and s...

Jesus doesn't kill

During our scripture study the other night we were reading about King Benjamin's address. I just talked about Christ coming to Earth again and how people will be judged for their works and for their belief in our Savior. Tim and I have obviously done a good job teaching the kids about the mercy and example of Jesus Christ: Me: So you guys. what do you think happens after we die and we are judged? What will happen to those who haven't used their lives to choose the right? Kota: Well, Jesus kills them. Me: *silent* Tim: *laughter* Me: Jesus doesn't kill. Kota: Oh.

This week:

Dakota lost another tooth.  It was hanging by a thread for about three loud, drama-filled days. The other day Micah said: "Mom, I made a new friend at school.  Her name is Nieieie....a" Me: "What's her name?" Micah:  "Well I don't really know." Me: "Okay, well, tell her to write it down with her phone number and we'll plan a play day." The next day she did!  Her friend's name is Yanella.  It's tough.  I asked their teacher about her and she said Yanella and Micah are a good pair and they just love each other, giving each other hugs all day.  So on Friday Dakota and Micah each invited a friend over, Yanella and Grace.  Good times!  I cleaned out Copper's desk and found this.  It was from a new notebook she labeled her math book, with words of wisdom in the front:  Thank Happy Thots. Love Books. Live Merry Life. Sincerely, Copper She's a girl after my own heart.  Love it. We...

Copper & McDonald's

Copper: Mama, I know what I want to be for Halloween... a chef! Me: I think that's a great idea and it would be easy to make your costume... Copper: Yeah... and with your sewing machine could you spell MCDONALD'S across the top?

Micah's head

Me: So... girls, why is there a pair of scissors and a small pile of blond hair here? Kota: Well, it was an accident.  I accidently cut Micah's hair. Me: How did you accidently cut it? Kota: Well, I was trying to cut paper. But I cut Micah's hair. Me: Was the paper on top of Micah's head? Kota: No it was on the counter, but so was Micah's head so I just cut it a little bit...
