Last Friday

I treasure my Fridays.  I'm busy from sun up to sun down and it's usually things I want to do so I love it.  Last Friday was the opposite.  We haven't quite gotten the morning routine down.  Me getting up at six is not early enough, obviously, because when it's time to get out of the house at 7:40 we're not ready.  My hope was for all girls to be ready- dressed, fed, lunches packed for Copper and Taryn, house picked up, and me ready for work- so that after I dropped off carpool I'd just head to work.  No go. Oh well. Last Friday we hurried and were still late picking carpool up.  The twins and I came home and I tried to clean our broken up house.  The yard was a disaster, which I hate because I like yard work and haven't had time for it.  Every room in the house looked like a tornado.  I'm still in the middle of patching holes and painting so I have piles of things everywhere. So I didn't love getting dressed up in extra fancy clothe...
Me: Micah, thank you for making your bed! Micah: You're welcome. Copper: Hey, I did that!  I made her bed for a secret service. Me: Micah? Micah: Oh, well... I was just... Me: Lying? Micah: Teasing.

Twin Talk

Me: Micah, did you open these candy eyes?  I just bought them to save for Halloween. Micah: No I didn't. Me: Micah, they're on your lap and the counter, all over. Micah: Well I didn't.  It just did it by itself.  I know that is the truth. Me: Dakota, did you stick a black marker up your nose and on your lip? Kota: Nope. It did it all by itself.  It's magical.

BOM

On June 25th of this year I started The Book of Mormon over.  This time I slowed WAY down and followed an in-depth study guide and journaled about everything I could think of.  I think I missed two days since then and JUST finished 1 Nephi.  Twenty-two short chapters, normally read within a few weeks max, stretched out over nearly two months.  It has been incredible and the biggest blessing in my life.  Really. I've had the strongest impressions that reading and really knowing the Book of Mormon would help me with getting healthier, managing stress, and being more patient with the girls.  The first of the year I started running every morning.  I loved it.  Well, I liked it.  After I was done.  I can't do both in the morning- read and exercise- because that extra half an hour of sleep is pretty precious.  So after almost 400 miles, I stopped and picked scripture study.  I'm all the better for it. The Book of Mormon really is...
Kota: Jonny, Jonny... Micah: yes, papa? Kota: eating sugar? Micah: no, papa Kota: telling lies? Micah: no papa Kota: open up your mouth Micah: ha ha ha Don't ask, I don't know. But they sing it all day. Micah: I know about Christmas. Santa will bring me 3 TVs and a Minnie Mouse shirt.
Micah: "Mom, know what my belly said?" Me: "That you need to eat dinner?" Micah: "My belly said... (changes to a deep voice) 'I need some chocolate..." Kota: "My belly said... (in growling voice) 'I need some chips..."

Life Unplugged

Dakota enjoying a carrot freshly picked from our garden...  Daxton, Copper, Maci, and Cameron... cousin sleepover...  We had a stray kitten for a pet... it was the best 25 minutes of the girls' lives...  Dakota making silly and beautiful faces...  Wall art thanks to Sharpie markers and the twins... it's surprisingly cute... and they practiced spelling their names...  The girls met their "read 100 books this summer" goal and we picked out new books, thanks to Inside Out  An after church bike ride along the Jordan River Trail... Copper's cute note to Dakota... "Dear Kota, I know you are sick so I hope you fill better.  Love Copper."  With a picture of a gallon of milk.

The evolution of a conversation...

Me: Put on your seatbelt, girls. Kota: Yea, because we will get a ticket. Micah: And then we can't go to Disneyland. Me: Yep I guess.  So what do you think the best part of Disneyland is? Micah: THE CROCODILES!!!!! Kota:  What? No... those are scary... Micah: CROCODILES! Kota: (whiney)... No... Micah: Well crocodiles aren't real... Me: Yes they are, but they don't live at Disneyland... Kota: Yea, Micah...
