Life

Spring soccer ended with a laugh we all shared. Copper's team made it to the playoffs- because every team does, haha. They ended the season with zero wins. Something admirable about Copper is that she has a great time regardless of how much they got slaughtered... Like 15-0... It also means she probably doesn't care enough to practice more. 🤷 Tim coached the last 1/2 of Kota's last game, and mostly just rolled his eyes. 🤣 Kota ended the season scoring their only goal. First thing she said was, "so I get $5?" Yep, I told them I'd pay them to score. When she got her end of the season medal she laughed and said, "We get a medal even though we lost every single game?" She wants to play in the fall and have Tim coach. Should be entertaining. She's fairly athletic so I hope she plays. Copper had a piano recital a few weeks ago. We are not fancy folks but went to the fancy recital where ALL of us had to be best dressed. Micah came for the cookies. Kot...

Green belt

Micah had her next belt exam last Saturday and advanced to her green belt!  On celebration, Tim's mom made her a tiger blanket. It's incredible!!

A story about a lost library book

Micah lost a library book from the city. We spent a few weeks looking for it. It's one of those things that's important to us, but doesn't really fall on the priority list of things to do in any given day. Still, I helped her look, to no avail. Within a day or so of us being charged money, I asked them to renew it one more time to give us just a second to look. What I wanted to do was have Micah work to pay off $15, which sounded quite daunting to her and not fun for me either. Then last night I had the most vivid dream. I literally dreamed that God came and told me to take a day off work to really clean my home and get it in order. This makes sense in my life because my house is much worse off than I want it to be, and having a clean home is important to me. It just falls to the bottom because each day is remarkably busy from sun up to sun down.  Anyway, in my dream I dreamed that God told me the lost library book was under the couch in my bedroom.  I remember saying a ...

Taryn

Taryn graduates high school in FOUR DAYS!!!  She finished her CNA last December and that work helped her with enough credits for high school graduation. Wow! She has hated school every single day of her life since kindergarten.  Every day has been a challenge for her.  We (collectively as her family) have battled alongside her the whole time.  I think it's really admirable that high school graduations highlight youth with great academic achievements. High school (well, all of any school) comes pretty easy for me and always has. I've shifted how I view educational success, though, and for the better.  I think that we should equally celebrate, and maybe even more elevate, those whose high school (and other) educational experiences have been a challenge. For Taryn, school has been tough- physically, socially, academically.  In the most latter years, depression has plagued her; experiences with friends have been humiliating and sad, understa...

Birthdays

My mama had a birthday in March and I forgot to post pictures! The best part was when she opened her gifts.  We had secretly been taking things from her house (decor, pictures, books, etc.) since Christmas.  We wrapped them up and gave them back to her one at a time. It was hilarious.  The first one she opened she said, "Oh, I think I have one like this." And then, "Huh." and then nothing.... hahahahaha. I loved it. Everyone watching and waiting to see her reaction... But in all seriousness, we love her!  She's an incredible example to our family and the most loved. I look up to her alllll theee tiimmmmeeee....  Happy Birthday! A couple months later, we celebrated another birthday.  Taryn turned 18!!! Wow!  We had her friend Tiffany take her out with friends for a bit while we decorated the house and got ready.  I'm pretty sure she figured out the surprise. Still, it was fun! Right before she walked in the door... It's hard to see the sign I...

A lotta life

Let me tell you how many hours a day I sit in front of video meetings... I thought my hair particularly looked okay during this video so I took a picture... Freedom Elementary's 5th Grade always does Hope of  America every May.  Copper missed it because of COVID, which she was pretty disappointed about.  Dakota was pretty excited and Micah wanted nothing to do with it. I was driving back from Manti that day and really didn't want to fight traffic, which the thousands of people there.  My mom volunteered to pick up the girls and meet in Orem, which saved us a ton of time.  So thank you mom! I was quite pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the program. I was dreading the traffic- whenever events are happening at BYU it's a bottleneck to get in and out.  We found the girls fast though when it was over and it only took us 45 minutes to get home! I was graciously reminded of how wonderful our country and is and sincerely thanked my Heavenly Father for the la...
