Copper was the only one in her entire school that entered the district science fair. She did a great job! Here's the kids' lobby at my new work. I love how homey it is and how much light shines through.   Growing sprouts again. Did you know eating a teaspoon of broccoli sprouts is the equivalent of a few pounds of fresh broccoli? While waiting for other young women to get to our Valentine's activity, the girls tried a hand at foosball.  Copper is really good! Copper also had her school play last week. She was a singer and dancer in Anastasia. So fun and beautiful! I couldn't get any great pictures because of the angle she was at most of the time on stage, but I snagged this one Her best friend Megan was in the play too, and our cute neighbor and friend Zoey Micah has been learning from my dad how to shoot and care for guns. She just finished all her computer testing for hunter's education and just passed her field shooting test.  Yay! Now she wants to start putting ...

Let me just say

Let me just say this is going to be long. I need somewhere to document this and there's a lot I think I want to remember.   I've been working on my health for years; this year I decided to work on my mental health. I believe deeply in the connection between a body, mind, and spirit.  I was triggered a few months ago and decided I wasn't above healing myself and getting rid of the weight of the things I carry around emotionally.  So I [bravely] found a therapist. His name is Ryan.  He's cool.  The first session was just talk about who I am. Three things he said: "Are you ADHD?" and "Are you sure you're not ADHD?" and "So is there a family history of ADHD?"  No, man, I'm just neurotic, have my hands in a lot of places, carry a lot, and likely have extremely high functioning anxiety. He agreed and also diagnosed me with PTSD. 😬 😮  He then asked me: So do you know who you are without all this? Do you know who you are outside of carry...

Lame Birthdays

This guy turned 42 this week. His actual birthday was lame. But the week before, he celebrated with chocolate cake and gifts at his parents.  That was not lame. We went to Nickel City the Saturday before his birthday, which also was not lame. We are arcade lovers. On Tuesday, the day before his birthday, I was gone the entire day from sun up to down.  I came home long enough to say a quick hi to Tim, notice he wasn't feeling great, and left for Young Women's. He was in bed when I got home. Not super out of the ordinary. By ten or eleven he couldn't sleep, and it was after taking two muscle relaxers, which usually knock him out.  By midnight the pain was much worse so I convinced him to go to the ER. I didn't really know what else to do.  I woke up the girls to tell them we'd be back. I found out later Dakota didn't really remember it. Copper thought it was a dream and that I told her we were going grocery shopping. Micah was the only one who said, "Oh, is d...

YW and English Muffin

I'm our ward's Young Women president and I can't even say how much I love it. I LOVE these girls so much.  If it was just seeing the girls on Sunday and our weekly activities I'd love it even more. On the side of spending a lot of time with these gals are a crapload of meetings.... I don't love meetings.  But these youth give me a lot of hope for the future. We have about fifteen or so really active and involved girls, and they lead everything. They plan and teach lessons. They plan and lead activities. They conduct meetings, make assignments, and carry them through. They are going to carry this world and do it with strength. I have no doubt. This last week they wanted to do something a little casual so we had a karaoke night. The girls were split into four groups, given some songs, and choreographed and performed a dance for all of us.  When we debriefed at the end, I asked them to tell me how it relates to the gospel and in which of the four areas of the Children ...
