Saturday shenanigans

After the race yesterday we came home and worked in the yard.  Well, Tim slept because 1) he was exhausted and 2) he hurt his ribs fighting a kid at work.  When I say "fight" I mean he was play wrestling but totally got his butt kicked by his super fun, super cute kid of a co-worker.  Fighting sounds tougher than horsing around, so I say he got in a fight. I worked on the yard- digging up this bit and putting down cinder blocks that will help keep the dirt/bark in the areas instead of being blown all over from north Lehi winds.  I'm kinda proud of myself.  More pictures to come- I finally have an idea of what I want to do! The girls invited friends over to play and they ran through the sprinkler and played in the sun.  Felt like summer yesterday! We ended the day with ice cream.  Tim and I spent the 30 minutes at the frozen yogurt place teaching the girls manners to have in the community.  It went something like this: Me: Kot...

Running

I signed us girls up to run a race held at Thanksgiving Point yesterday.  My friend Ashley and I did the 5k and fifty seconds later the girls and I ran the mile fun run.  They were such troopers and we ran almost the whole time.  The medals and cookies at the end were definitely worth it for them.  It was so fun and we all want to do it again!

Life as usual!

The other night Copper and I got to craft together for an Activity Days mother-daughter paint night.  So fun! On Saturday, my friend Ashley invited us to go to the Jordan River Temple Open-House.  It's SOOOO beautiful!  It was a self-guided tour, which meant we could spend as much time in one area as we wanted.  Sweet Micah said she felt so wonderful in the temple that she wanted to be baptized right then and there!  Her sweet spirit makes up for the fact that she wears sneakers to all church related events, including temple times and sacrament meeting. Saturday afternoon I helped Tim clean up the lilac bushes he trimmed for me.  They're growing out of control and killing my grass so he had fun with the chainsaw.  There's a lot more that needs to be done, but hours later he was beat.  What a trooper!  I burned limbs for over an hour and there's still a ginormous pile, plus the dumpster bin we filled up.  While I burned...

What I'm Reading

A few years ago I bought a Book of Mormon Study Guide that breaks it apart a few verses at a time and offers suggestions to write and journal about.  It has been the most effective way I've ever read the BOM and I've understood it in ways I haven't.  It's been a big blessing in my life.  I finished it this week and was really overcome with emotion. I'm too lazy to retype everything I wrote about it so I just took a picture of my journal entry that day...  Next I've decided to study the Doctrine and Covenants and luckily found the same type of study guide.  The last time I read D&C was with Richard Ellsworth as my high school seminary teacher.  As small towns would sometimes have it, Richard Ellsworth happens to be in my ward now and lives just down the street.  He's AMAZING in gospel knowledge and our Stake's patriarch.  I started the study yesterday and I'm excited about it.   This week I've sort of let some newly formed...

Actual Easter

I watched a short video clip the other day about Easter and it was really moving... so I spent some time typing it up as the guy talked.  I have no idea who he is or where he is speaking but I figured it didn't matter because the message is just really great.  Here it is: My dad, who had Alzheimer’s, had gotten it so bad that when I would talk to him, he would look at me and he’d say, “I’m so sorry, I don’t know you’re name… but I’m pretty sure I like you!”  And I said, “I’ll take that!” Well, a few years earlier, before his Alzheimer’s had gotten so severe, he had been asked to be the closing speaker for Sacrament meeting on Easter… the last, you know, 14 or 15 minutes of Easter.  And I was a little tentative when he told me about it, because I didn’t want him to have a problem and embarrass himself, but oh, he was thrilled that he’d been asked. He gets up to give his 15 minute talk on Easter.  And I’m at the back, ready for an intervention…ready...

Easter Part II

Last night we colored Easter eggs... it's always a bit of drama, lots of fun, and enormous clean up... The Easter Bunny brought the girls candy, a jump rope, and a skip-it ball.  Happy Smiles! Early this morning we made Easter Bunny race car drivers to take to the cousins tonight.  Fun times!

Life this weekend

Oh, Micah...  Every April during General Conference weekend we remake our 72-hour kits.  Micah mostly wanted to eat everything but she's okay with it in case there's a hurricane... hahahaha...  Copper watching General Conference, taking notes, coloring, and having a Pepsi... Micah just hanging around...
