A wii bit too much

Yesterday was our anniversary. We bought a Wii game system for our celebration. A little too much probably, but oh well. Here's a picture of Tim trying out the yoga and strength training... This is what I love about marriage: 1. You can watch your husband do yoga poses like this one and laugh at him. If you are really good at persuasion, perhaps he will do it clothes-free. I am not a good convincer. 2. You hopefully inherit cool things like I did when we married, like cozy shirts. Though, you may also inherit useless items like the tens of hundreds of baseball cards that we will never do anything with or the bass/guitar that has never been touched since I've known Tim. 3. You always have someone to talk to. It doesn't necessarily mean he is listening, but if you talk fast and long enough, you may not even notice. 4. You get to make cute babies like this one. This is her getting ready to go out jogging. 5. You don't have to find someone to sit by at church. Here's wh...

Food deprived?

We don't think she's starving.

19 Days

Tonight I am bummed. I have 19 days until I am back to work full force and it is really upsetting. For those moms who get the privilege of staying home full time, count your blessings. Amid the crying, stress, and frustration of being at home lies the huge advantage of watching and influencing your child's development- and the relief knowing that what your child learns is a direct result of you rather than someone else. Going back to work does not exite me. Fire me, but very few parts of my job are satisfying. Frankly, a lot of my job is tiring and bores me to tears. I know this is a choice feeling and I can feel differently about it anytime I choose to. But this thought keeps looming in the back of my mind, how twisted it is that the most important family I devote my time and effort to -should be my own... and the ones I am forced to put my all into are other people's. Does this seem screwy?? Despite appearance, this post is not all sap and teary. My goal is to rem...

Blessed Day

Today was Copper's blessing. It was a great morning! I did not dress her in the pioneer costume. Nor did I offend its maker, since this is me. I know it took me four months or longer to make. This does not make me feel bad or think it was a waste of time. The most important part of today was far from the sentiment of a homemade dress, so I might as well not have her look like the young one from Little House on the Prairie. One day she will thank me. As for the pioneer dress, I am thinking about gifting it to my niece, who has this mild obsession with raising her own doll-daughter. This will be a fantastic gift to her. Copper is our gift to us and I'm so grateful we were trusted with her spirit and body! I shared this thought with a very dear friend of mine. He responded that while she is a blessing to us, we need also be that blessing to her. I am glad he said this because it's helped me to be more patient and understanding with her. Patience wears thins at two o'clock ...

Would you dress your daughter in a crocheted dress for her blessing if it meant she looked like a newborn in an eighty-nine-year-old pioneer's costume?

36

Today Copper is 36 days old. We love: 1. That she is ours. 2. How she arches her neck like it's going to fall off so she can look around. 3. How incredibly strong she is, like when we're dressing her and she won't bend her legs to fit in her pajamas. 4. How she can sleep through a fire engine siren one moment and wake with a creek in the floor the next. 5. When she makes her mouth into an "o" shape sometimes when trying to pass gas. 6. How sometimes when she eats it sounds as if she's never been fed in her life. 7. When she chuckles. Yes she laughs. Yes, I know child development, and experts may say she's too young. However, I heard that the veil is so thin between here and heaven that when babies smile or, yes, laugh, it could be that their so close to God. 8. How she loved her swing for two weeks and now screams as if it's torture. 9. How she can cry, no, scream , for several hours. We love this because then when she's quiet we're reminded o...

Smoky Situation

This is our stove/oven. Last night I almost burned our house down with it. I thought it would be a good idea to bake cookies. My inner self was saying no, but I ignored it because I figured it was a feeling that I'd gain too much weight, as I've enjoyed numerous desserts in the past weeks. So much for listening to my gut. I just listened to it rumble for cookies. Anyway- I made cookie dough and then didn't want to waste my night by baking only a dozen at a time. So I piled the entire mound onto a sheet to bake at once. The mistake came when I pushed it clear to all edges so that it'd all fit. Then I stuck it in the oven. A little bit later Tim looked at it and yelped. It was oozing off all the edges onto the bottom of the oven. Not a few drops, but mounds . So we took out the pan and ate the remainder semi-cooked. Still very yummy. However, my oven was a messy, gooey disaster. Now- I am no real kitchen dummy; nor am I lazy. Well, sometimes I am. But in this case, I was ...

Funny

Cassie: I can't imagine our life without Copper. Tim: You can't remember a month ago? I'm pretty sure he was referring to the times when our home didn't burst with the sound of a baby's voice. We're not talking cranky or fussy; we're talking down right ticked off. :)

In regards to previous post

Hello readers, For your information, Tim and I really did not undress in the canyon in front of seniors and children. People are beginning to think we're quite inappropriately animal-like. There was much kissing and undressing with our eyes.

Cross country skiing on cement

Today Tim got off work at nine in the morning! We decided to head up the canyon and walk along the river trail by Bridal Veil. Copper loves the mountains- it must have been so breathtakingly beautiful that she had to close her eyes to soak it all up. And then she forgot to reopen them. This is how she looked the whole time. Tim and I had a great time. He kept trying to make out with me in front of all the senior citizens out for some fresh air. I bet we looked like teenage kids skipping school, getting to know each others' tongues while galivanting in the wilderness. We also saw this lady on the trail. It appears she's attempting to cross country ski on cement. I started laughing because it looked very out of place. To her, it proba bly seemed perfectly natural to be walking along with ski-type poles. Plus, maybe there's something to walking in the canyon I don't understand. Plus, plus, maybe Tim and I looked completely out of place too. After all, we practically undre...
