Lately Dakota hasn't wanted to go to the bathroom by herself.  She's been calling Micah to come watch her poop.  It is so funny.  They stay in there probably ten minutes talking to each other, singing, telling stories, and giggling.  The first time I thought it was so funny I wished I'd taken a picture.  Little did I know it'd be a regular occurrence, plenty of times to snap a pic.

School Schmool

I try not to compare the twins to each other very often because they are wildly different and just because they're twins doesn't mean they are two peas in a pod or should be.  It's hard not to put them side by side at times, especially because they're at the same developmental and social levels.  This comparison makes me laugh and smile... personalities at preschool.  A few examples: A few weeks ago Micah laid down and took her nap during preschool, in the middle of the classroom rug and amidst noisy, crazy three year olds.  When she's tired, she's tired. Dakota cut along lines nearly perfectly and then glued the numbered strips in order to create a picture.  I can't believe her concentration on a project like this- really cool. Micah's didn't make it home because, instead, she perfected her cutting skills and there was nothing left to glue. Earlier this week, Dakota brought home a cute little paper pizza she decorated.  When I asked where...

Girls and Gratitude

A few months ago we had family home evening on Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.  It was a short, short lesson and one I didn't think anyone paid attention to.  Then, weeks later, I asked the kids where Heavenly Father lived.  Copper said heaven and at the same time Micah said, "The forest!"  It took me a minute to get it.  After realizing the connection she made, I was proud and astounded at her memory of our lesson, that Heavenly Father appeared to Joseph Smith "in the forest".  And it makes me smile that she remembers herself there with them; she's pretty certain she was there.  Who knows, I guess. Today we spent the day together.  Actually the last four.  I worked last Friday but took yesterday off; it was a nice four day weekend.  After spending days on end with the girlies, I am always amazed at their spirits, their incredible thoughts, their smiles, their love for each other, and their love for our home and family. On the d...

My two favorite birthday gifts

I didn't do a big birthday post, though I had a fine but busy day.  A delightful day at work full of court hearings and meetings.  Nothing out of the ordinary and my bestie at work took me to lunch.  Thank you Megan!  I had my hair done after work and went for ice cream with Tim and the girls.  Thank you Tim for leaving work early and doing everything great!  He even wrote me a letter.  I mean typed and everything.  Long, folded, enveloped.  Just the kind of thing I love.  He knows I love notes.  I'm such a girl.  I'd post it, but it's pretty near and dear.  I'll just say I married the very best guy in the universe.   Copper made me at least a dozen birthday cards.  "Mom 36.  Happy Birthdae.  Love Yuo Mom. Frum Copper."  Smarty pants writer.  Something special about Copper is that she's so aware of others- she's excited for other people's 'big day' without wanting it for herself, she love...

Halloween!

I only remember a few things about Halloween while growing up. I remember trick or treating with my besties Denise and Candis.  One  year Candis' mom made mermaid costumes.  I don't remember much about them except they were sewed pretty tight near our fin feet, so walking was tricky and climbing stairs nearly impossible.  I also remember my bros Tom and Ty, who hated Halloween since they were little.  They stopped trick or treating pretty early and instead loved scaring everyone around.  Tim vaguely remembers Halloween growing up.  He surely remembers coming home and going through all the candy though! Neither him nor I cared too much for Halloween, and it never went on like it does now.  It seems like Halloween was on Halloween only.  Since we've had kids, Halloween has become big. It has lasted.  And lasted.  But it's a lot more fun.  This year's carving included a jack o lantern Copper drew herself (far left), a ha...
