Notes from Micah

Micah is our note-writer.  Please do not disturb.  Or else you will get bit by kiwi (imaginary dog) and you will get run over by my stunt car. Do not disturb.  I'm shy and small.  And I'm emotional. Love Micah  (She woke up upset because she couldn't/wouldn't/didn't stay in her bed all night, saying, "I'll never get the hang of this."  Then she barricaded herself in her room and left this note on the door.) I told Micah I would make her a weighted blanket over Christmas break.  She reminded me this week I hadn't... Found two pictures of Christ she wrote about.  "When our Savior was sleeping on a boat with people there was a storm so the people woke him up and he calmed the sea and the storm.  When we are lonely we pray.  By Micah. Jesus.  With God nothing shall be impossible.  Christ.  Dear mom, I love you.  You are the best mom ever.  I know that your favorite color is orange...
Life's too funny not to document or share... Tim: Kota, you know you moan in your sleep almost everything night.  What do you dream about? Kota: NOTHING!  I DIDN'T DREAM ABOUT ANYTHING! Tim:  You must have, because you groaned and moaned. Me:  Kota, you actually did, and you do almost every night! Kota: * seriously mad*  FINE!  I'm calling 9-1-1 because you're making fun of me! Tim: You can't do that, it's not a real emergency. Kota: FINE!  Then I'm calling GRANDMA on you! On Sunday night as a family we talked about things in the scriptures that seem impossible but that weren't with Heavenly Father's power.  Like- Moses parting the Red Sea for the children of Israel, or Nephi building a boat, or the Jaredites travel across the ocean.  I asked the kids to think about things that seem impossible in their own lives but that we shouldn't give up on because Heavenly Father can and does help.  We brainstormed impossibilities related...

Changes!

I've been thinking for a few months (since October) on what changes I want to make in order to follow the prophet's counsel on strengthening families through the adjustment of church meetings and the Come Follow Me resources.  The last several weeks I've tried out some ways to implement some changes and I'm pretty happy with it. "As Latter-day Saints, we have become accustomed to thinking of “church” as something that happens in our meetinghouses, supported by what happens at home. We need an adjustment to this pattern. It is time for a  home-centered Church,  supported by what takes place inside our branch, ward, and stake buildings." (Russell M. Nelson) I believe in the power of healthy, strong families.  I very much believe in this quote by Henry B. Eyring: "Human judgment and logical thinking will not be enough to get answers to the questions that matter most in life.  We need revelation from God."  I believe we all need our own conversion an...
