It's a...

My sister is having a BOY! We are all so excited to finally have a boy in our family; I'm not sure we can wait for November to get here. Everyone except big sister Madisyn. I'm sure she'll come around. Now if only my little bro' would tell me what he's having. He's kept it a secret, even from his pregnant wife, for months now and isn't cracking. It's fairly annoying. But maybe we'll have two boys!

Copper's Simple Dad

Happy Father's Day to Tim! What Copper and I love best about Tim is his uncomplicated way of living. Simply put, Tim is simple. He has simple faith- it is because the Lord says it is and there’s no questioning it. He has a simple testimony- he knows Heavenly Father and our Savior live. His life is simple. While others can’t get over the “whys” and “what ifs” of life, Tim keeps it in the here and now and helps his sometimes-crazy wife remember how nice it is to just be present. Simply put, he knows what’s important and everything else is just details. He is simply good. He has had the Light of Christ guiding him, an inherent sense of goodness, long before being baptized. He has a simple way of being. He is who he is, no matter who he’s with or where he’s at. He has simple love; it needs no frills or extravaganza- he loves and the rest really is just details. Tim may be simple but this simplicity is extraordinaire, and is faithfully what the Lord anticipated when He sent Copper to re...

What I love about my chi-chi

When Tim and I were on our anniversary, he called me Chi-Chi once. I bet him he wouldn't remember to call me that and behold he still does. This morning when I got in my car I found this: a note of ten things he loves about me. He's pretty funny and loving. This is what he wrote: What I love about my Chi-Chi 1. You are the most compassionate person I've ever known. It's mind boggling most of the time, but sometimes I see how I should also be more compassionate. 2. You are the best mother I could have asked for to our wonderful daughter. Yes it is okay to not always like it. 3. You help me and our family stay closer to the Lord. You help me to do the things I know I should do but don't always. 4. You are a beautiful girl both spiritually and physically. 5. You've only lived out of Lehi maybe one year and yet you want to stay here probably forever. I must admit it would be good to stay settled and not move around a lot. 6. Perhaps one of the hardest w...

A little help from our friends...

Who wouldn't want to watch her? I've been praying a lot lately. Not only that Copper will get over her ear aches and stop the clingy whinyness, but also that we will find a great person to care for her when we are at work. I must say that praying never lets me down! The Spirit led me to talk to the Relief Society president in our old ward, which led me to a lady I was acquainted with. We met with her tonight and I felt so sure of having Copper there. She will take care of her and love her, get to know her, and respect all the wonderful things about her. We also are very blessed to have Tim’s mom close and willing to help. She plans on watching Copper each Monday and will even come to our house! Today was the first day. Poor Copper went to sleep for her morning nap and woke up to find me gone. I guess she looked all over the house for us! She did fine in the afternoon, and when she woke up from her second nap I was home. I think it confused her, waking up to find me gone and th...

Finished skirt!

Happy Birthday Copper!

Today is my first birthday. Although I really have no idea what's going on, my mom is super excited. Birthdays are a big deal to her, and it's even better now because her own birthdays have become fairly boring. My birthday can now become my mom's biggest day of every year. And it should be! After all, life is much more exciting, lovable, and purposeful with me in it. On my first birthday I: * Walk fast; stop, turn, and walk another direction; bend down to pick something up without falling over; dance by picking up one foot and then another. * Eat everything. I love ravioli and pasta, bread, some veggies, cheese, yogurt, and meatballs. * Blow on food even if it's not hot. I watched my mom do this and now blow on everything. * Bite and rip paper, cardboard, plastic, foam, and anything else chewable. Sometimes in the grocery cart I gnaw and bite my way through food cartons. And if my mom doesn't catch me in time, I eat the corner off the box and watch her quickly rip ...

Long turning longer weekend

I love three day weekends and love that all my weekends are three day weekends. This weekend we spent a lot of time with my sister and her girls, Maci and Madisyn. One is a non-stop talker about EVERYTHING. I don't think I've ever heard her take a breath. I think it sometimes gets under my sister's skin, but not mine. She makes me laugh every day. And Maci, who deserves her own classification. She's two, runs around with nonstop energy, and loves "Copi" (Copper) a little too much. Copi is not a fan of bear hugs and Maci trying to drag her. And of course Taryn, my other adorable niece. She's six and maybe the sassiest girl I know. She's Copper's "big sister" and loves her I think more than all of our family put together. This weekend we had a swim party. Copper had fun playing with the big girls and watching every tiny thing they did. Fun times! This weekend Tim also got a new church calling. Assistant Varsity Scout Leader. ? He doesn...

Vote: Will I finish this one?

I have maybe a dozen unfinished projects at any given time. I don't think it's as uncommon as it sounds. Mostly I don't finish because 1) I get bored; and 2) I screw up; or 3) It becomes too much work and takes too long. More often than not, it's a combination of the three. And almost always, my eyes and ideas are much bigger than my motivation. So it is not unlike me at all to start another one today. This time, though, it's sewing. And I'm terrible at sewing. Maybe I'm trying to be like my sister, who's pretty good, or my mother in law, who is basically a sewing wizard. She could probably whip something out in her sleep. This is what I'm attempting. But only the skirt for now. Or for ever. My goal tonight was to cut out the fabric pieces in straight lines according to the measurements. I only messed up twice. And there's a likely possibility I have to buy more fabric. Oops. Wish me luck. If there's no picture of it by tomorrow night, ...
