Conversations with Copper

Copper: I have this money.  Go to dollar store? Tim: The dollar store?  What do they have at the dollar store? Copper: A vacuum. Tim: A vacuum?  Why do you want a vacuum? Copper: A vacuum.  So I can be like mom and vacuum.

Conversations with Copper

(last night) Me:  Copper, if you stay in your bed all night tonight I will make you Minnie Mouse chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.  It means if you wake up again you just have to close your eyes and go back to sleep by yourself. Copper:  No pancakes.  I sleep by mom? Me: It's okay, where a short sleeved shirt today and just put a jacket on. Copper: No mom, winter. Me:  But it's okay because you'll have a jacket. (on the way to get in the car...) Copper:  See?  I told you.  Mom, I told you.  Mom, it's winter, I told you.  I told you, mom. Me:  Yes, you're right.  Copper: I told you.

The story is worth the read

The Ambitious Violet There was a beautiful violet who lived placidly amongst her friends, and swayed happily amidst the other flowers in a solitary garden.  One morning, as her crown was embellished with beads of dew, she lifted her head and looked about; she saw a tall and handsome rose standing proudly and reaching high into space, like a burning torch upon an emerald lamp. The violet opened her blue lips and said, "What an unfortunate am I among these flowers, and how humble is the position I occupy in their presence!  Nature has fashioned me to be short and poor... I live very close to the earth and I cannot raise my head toward the blue sky, or turn my face to the sun, as the roses do." And the rose heard her neighbor's words; she laughed and commented, "How strange is your talk!  You are fortunate, and yet you cannot understand your fortune.  Nature has bestowed upon you the fragrance and beauty which she did not grant to any other... Cast aside your thoug...

St. Paddy's...

Sometimes this is as good as it gets, picture wise....           :)  Copper made a great lephrechaun in Talking Time a few days ago.  Today it came to life and has been playing tricks on her all day.  First it hid her new shoes.  Then it took all the green m&m's out of the bag.  Next we found it in her car seat on the way to church, with her Dora game cards.  After church she found it in the middle of all of her games, half-played.  When we came home from Opa and Oma's it was waiting in the window for her with her favorite sippy cup.  Finally, she found it in her bed with a loving note: She was Incredibly excited all day long.   "WHAAAT??!!" "What will this lephrechaun do next?" "I just can't believe it." "He is one silly and tricky lephrechaun."  She had a ball!!

Spring Time III

Spring TIme II

Spring Time I

I started following this blog for twins, yourhandsfull.blogspot.com.  It's kind of cool to hear what other people say, crazy times.  Caisa is the blog owner; she had twin boys when her son was nineteen months old.  I thought it was hard that Copper was just barely two, I can't imagine her five months younger than she was.  I love following the blog and hearing about other people's experiences.  It's Really validating to know that other people have found it just as difficult, crazy, and amazing.  It's a little self-assuring to know that I'm not crazy, inadequate, or a terrible mom, that twins really flip life around, even for the better.  And it's really helped me appreciate my twin girls more and to know it really is a unique and neat experience and blessing. I was invited to post on this blog my experience and/or what it's like to be a working mom.  I wonder if she regrets asking.  I verbally vomited. Spewed all over the place.   Whe...

How much do you know?

1.  Recently Micah: a) Sat square down in a squishy pile of mud and couldn't get up. b) Emptied her spill proof snack cup, spread goldfish crackers everywhere, and then jumped on them. c) Fell off the top of the couch, somersaulted down (twice), and tried to figure it out again. d) All of the above. 2.  Recently, Copper: a) Ate a grilled cheese and peanut butter sandwich. b) Hugged me and enthusiastically told me she was proud of me for painting. c) Remarked how the Disney castle is actually a temple. d) All of the above. 3.  Recently Dakota: a) Hung her head and walked to the wall, apparently putting herself in time-out.  Which nobody here has ever had to do. b) Had croup, RSV, pink eye, and croup again in about five weeks. c) Got stuck with her feet and arms sticking straight up after falling into a toddler potty. d) All of the above.
