We Took A Trip: Day 7

COVID sure has screwed up Zions.  There's a cap on how many people can get in at any certain time, so you have to reserve tickets 24 hours in advance by creating a profile on the website and logging in at 9:00 A.M. sharply the day before you want to be there.  I logged on at 9:03 and the eight, nine, and 10 o'clock spots were already full.  We couldn't get there until 11:00.  Pain...  So, we hung out at the RV park. This RV resort was the best.  Their "community room" had all sorts of fun things; we didn't get to do "old people paint night" but we did get to play cornhole, ping pong, and on their piano.  Micah sure knows how to whack a ping-pong, and now wants a table for her room. We finally made it to Zion National Park.  We parked in Springdale, the closest city, and took the free shuttle to the visitor's center.  We had to get there within the hour of our reservation, or no luck getting actually in the park.  We then had to take a sh...

We Took A Trip: Day 6

October 1, 2020  So long Ruby's Inn (after one more time swimming). We headed to St. George.  I slept again. Side Note: when I was a kid and we went on trips or long drives, my dad just wanted us to look out the window, not talk, and basically sit there.  So I was pretty conditioned to sleep in the car.  I sleep every time I'm a passenger in a vehicle, like even to the grocery store sometimes.  So long drives mean long naps, which are kind of the best. Then and after dropping off the trailer and eating lunch, we hit Thunder Junction Park, our favorite park in St. George.  It was bloody hot, almost 100. I made us ride the train, even though it cost $5; Tim didn't want to go until I looked at him and reminded him it was a family  vacation, hahaha.  It's a ridiculous train ride but who cares! After the park we hit Walmart for more groceries and headed back to our camp spot. Our reservation was for Temple View RV Resort.  There's quite a fe...

We Took A Trip: Day 5

While I made breakfast our fifth day away, the girls made a pillow/blanket pile/fort up on the big mattress.  They all demanded we swim first thing in the morning.  Bryce Canyon City was 30 degrees through the night and mid 80s during the afternoon- there was no way swimming was an option first thing in the morning.  Luckily, we could use Ruby's Inn Lodge and took advantage of their indoor pool and hot tub.  We swam for awhile and decided to tour the town before going out hiking. As far as we could tell, the most entertaining parts of Bryce Canyon City span about two miles long and maybe a half-mile wide.  It includes: Ruby's Inn Campground; Ruby's Inn Lodge; three Ruby's Inn restaurants; several Ruby's Inn tourist attractions; and Ruby's Inn gift shop and groceries.  So you can't help but love Ruby's Inn!   We signed up for a guided ATV tour and went for an hour ride with Tim at the wheel.  It was so fun!  We stopped along the way...
