Life in May

When they came down ready for church and found out they were sort of matching... Do I love she wears a Nike hoodie to church? No. Do we fight over clothes? Also no.  :)  Maci graduated and Shandee had us over for dinner to celebrate.  Here's the girl cousins! (except not Madisyn or Taryn) Barb's birthday party at our house! I had AI create a murder mystery (Star Trek themed) and we all had a good time. Copper and I went to Maci's graduation at UVU.  Graduations are incredibly boring but we love Maci and were happy to wade through the crowds.  I love that they are so close. Our first "camping" trip of the year.  We're selling the trailer and until it's sold we're not buying another one... so we just went up for the day.  It wasn't until we were up there that we found out Ty and Amber were at her grandparents property about 10 minutes away.  We met up for lunch and dinner. I love camping.  My mom on Memorial Day: "I'm bored and need a projec...

Police Citizen Academy

A few months ago I particpated in the Provo Police Department's Citizen Academy.  They have a team, the COP (community oriented policing) that hosts a weekly meeting I attend.  Our committee watches out for needs of folks in Provo and I go to talk about any youth who might need more support.  The team invited me to their Citizen's Academy and so for 8 Wednesdays I worked 9 hours and then came to this for 4 hours. They were Very long days, but super fun.  I'm grateful to know the team I collaborate with better, and grateful to work in Provo. They do such a good job. I have always respected law enforcement but I genuinely left this experience with more reverence and awe for what they provide to communities. I learned how to put handcuffs on, which is trickier than it looks And I went repelling down this extremely high fire tower... And tried on tactical gear, which is extremely heavy... But not as heavy as bomb squad garb, which is 100 pounds... And I participated in V...

Time is flying by

Copper went to prom with her friend Aubrey's boyfriend's friend.  Say that twice, I guess.  Her friend Aubrey gave Copper a tiara to wear, and nobody knew her date was a full head and half taller than she is...and she's in four foot heels.  Here's to good high school days, even if dates are awkward and a little crazy... And expensive.  Ha! Literally we have to reserve family time on the calendar or we don't see each other.  So it made me happy to have a night we were all home. At Copper's delight, we made homemade pizza on the BBQ. I like that these two had this year to play on the same team.  So fun! My work had a manager retreat up at Daniel's Summit for two days.  They're a good bunch. I'm very blessed to have landed at Wasatch Behavioral Health.  God is good in my life. I have learned a lot, grown a lot, been given lots of opportunities, and am trusted with some pretty big projects and tasks. I am also very glad to still work with youth and fa...

A small trip to Moab

A month or so ago I took the girls on a little trip to Moab. He woke up the day before not feeling great, and I really did feel bad at first when I told him we were just going to go without him.  We had a good girls trip! We played, "Which arch is better?" and I hands-down had to pick the manmade arch that Micah walked through. Copper collects the Junior Ranger badges every time we visit a national or state park. She was too embarrassed to go up so Dakota pretended to be her and was sworn in. :)  Dakota also finds every available dog to pet... Micah LOVES hotel rooms... Fun Facts: If you stop at the pit stop in Helper to go to the bathroom and it seems weird, it's because it's actually a movie set and there are no real bathrooms available. I tried it out. If Micah goes on a trip with you, plan on stopping in every single souvenir shop out there and it's 100% she and Dakota will buy hoodies and wear them even when it's 80 degrees. I like to sleep on long (or s...
