Tim and I have this deal at home. I never take the trash out and he never cleans the bathroom. So far it's worked great; he never complains when I pile up the garbage (and I've learned how to pile it high) and I rarely complain when he shaves and it leaves a million little particles stuck to the tub.
I also hate vacuuming. The only exchange Tim could come up with is that he would always vacuum if I always changed the baby's diaper. Does he think this is the same? The thought of the exchange makes me smile and remember why I love Tim! Here's why else I love him:
1. He tickles my back in the morning. He thinks I'm still asleep but it's a fake-out because I'm afraid he'll stop if I stir.
2. He's at my beck-and-call... literally. Even if I'm whiny and taken on the helpless role, yelling from across the house, I hear him coming asking what I need.
3. He keeps it real. He's very calming and has a way of telling it like it is.
4. He never gets tired of Shrek. And every time he laughs like he's never seen it.
5. He always opens the car door for me. At first I thought it was annoying but I've accepted it as a token of respect and care.
6. He gets up in the middle of the night when I'm sick, standing behind me and patting my head at a safe distance. It's funny but very sweet.
7. He remembers all the stories in the scriptures. I re-read them and it's like brand new information. He just seems to get it.
8. He opens the garage door for me when I'm close to home and helps me bring in all the crap from the day.
9. He talks to my stomach in scary voices and tells Copper to be nice to me and let me sleep at night. Once born, she may not recognize who he is because she seldom hears his real voice.
10. He's funny and keeps me laughing. For example, when I asked if he thought our baby would be good when she's born, asking for hope, he said, "Of course not."
In reality, I would always vacuum and change the baby's diaper in exchange for keeping him here with me. :)
