Copper is 17 months today. Wow!!
1. She hates bubbles. When I say hates them, I mean it. She scrambles to get out of the tub. And when I put them on her hands or belly or cheeks, she sort of freaks. It's funny enough we do it for laughs sometimes.
2. She loves, loves, loves to dance. Spinning in circles, marching, clapping, throwing her arms in the air, stomping one foot at a time, you name it.
3. Eating. Copper is NOT a good eater. When she decides to eat, she eats almost anything. When she decides she doesn't want to eat, there's no making her. Petite but healthy. At least she's a solid twenty pounds now!!
4. Copper has discovered crayons. She has drawn on the tile, wall, fridge, and couch. Then we learned to strap her down in the highchair and tray; this lasted a day or so. Tim taught her to "only draw on the table," which she picked up very quickly. She drew all over it. Now we teach her to draw "only on paper..."
5. Walking backwards. She's done this for a while but it's happening more often and she thinks she's very cool. I think it's funny when she runs into things.
6. "Ohhh." Copper drops and throws everything, on purpose, then grunts "Ohhh..." When I say grunt, I mean a low, deep Grunt. Then she throws herself to her knees and lifts up both arms, looks at us, and says, "Oh?"
7. Belly laying is something she does now in the tub, while reading books, or just taking a break. It took us a few times to show her that "laying down" doesn't have to mean on her back. She loves it now, puts her fists up to her chin to rest and looks around. Super cute.
8. We've always played hide and seek. Copper invented a new game of hiding herself under a blanket and walking around until she bumps something. Then she throws the blanket off, looks at us laughing, grins, and says, "Oh no!"
9. Trying to be like Jesus. Once for FHE we took a picture of Jesus down (like 11" x 14") and tried to teach her to say his name. For the rest of the night she carried the picture around wherever she went- bathroom, bedroom, kitchen. Kissed the glass and frame all over. :)
10. Learning animal sounds: she knows what a puppy says (arff), what a kitty says (maaaw), what a snake says (scrunches up face and blows through her nose), what a sheep says (baaah), and what a duck says (for this she "quacks" with her hands and says "duck, duck").
11. She loves group hugs. I hold her up and Tim hugs us both. She taps both of us on the backs and nuzzles in. So sweet.
12. She loves baths. Without bubbles of course. Sometimes it's two or three a day, she'll just stand by the tub, signing bath, until we start the water. All the toys are thrown in and she just giggles.
13. She likes putting things down her shirt. Snacks, toys, paper. It's like her permanent little pocket.
14. She LOVES our (real) phones. Except when they ring, then she wants nothing to do with them.
15. When they aren't ringing, though, she walks around with them to her ear, babbling away. Every few seconds she pauses, then laughs. Good imagination.
16. She hates the vacuum and the lawn mower. She's past the screaming part, but not past the "cling-to-the-other-parent's-leg" part.
17. Lover of music. Doesn't matter where it's coming from- the TV, computer, radio, or us singing. She smiles and tries to sing too. She'd listen to music all day, and sometimes does! When nothing else calms, YouTube videos of nursery rhymes do the trick.

In all she's a hoot. She makes us laugh, smile, and love.

I LOVE bubbles! Maybe they feel strange to her.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to read about her and remember where my kids used to be.
