Today I worked from home. It was incredibly nice, except for the cracker-crumb filled carpet I felt every time I got up. I thought about the very awesome life I have and the very tender mercies always heading my way. I’m very blessed and know 100% that the good Lord is looking out for me. Some bounteous blessings on my mind lately…
My kids! How fun and loving and wonderful they are. I can’t believe how beautiful their bodies and spirits are. They are kind and caring, fun and funny, loveable and delightful. And growing! And healthy! Copper just turned a lucky five and couldn’t be more enjoyable. The little girls are just shy of three, I can’t believe how they’ve grown into their personalities and light up our family.
My Tim! He’s so fun and helpful and loving. He shares (well, not his pillow) (or his water bottle) and protects our family. One of his greatest strengths is the love he has for our kids. He does more than teach and take care of them. He plays with them. They have nothing but a positive relationship with him because of the fun times they have together. He is patient with me and sees well beyond my shortcomings and faults. He loves and lives for our family and God; he is a great man!
My home! This week I also got on a “we should move” kick. It stemmed from hating our driveway. Why I bought a home with a steep-ish driveway is beyond me. Less than ideal for little kids wanting to ride bikes. Then I was reminded I have a wonderful home! The fact we have a home, space for everything and space to fill, nice things, a great yard, wonderful neighbors, and everything that goes along with it is truly a blessing.
My work! I do have a great job that I enjoy. Usually. I love that I’ve carved a place where I am trusted to do my work and I do it well. One tender little mercy this week is the email I received confirming the state office had indeed approved a raise for me, requested by my supervisor and her’s. This is a rarity. Or maybe not and it’s taken nine years to get one. Ha. Anyway, in a job where little recognition is ever received, it’s the little things that count. And the other tender mercy I receive at work, more meaningful in ways than a pay increase, is the ever reminding realization of one very important part of life. Wholehearted work, love, acceptance. It is rooted well below the frustration of the day to day grind of dealing with situations that shouldn’t happen in this world. When I look past the crap and see with my heart, it’s there. Then I love with love. That’s a mercy in itself.
I suppose that’s what Heavenly Father wants- us to show the same love to others that we’re always receiving. And gratitude and acknowledgement of the ever flowing blessings pouring out on us. There are (of course) imperfect people in the world but I know that the gospel is true and everything it teaches to be the most true concepts.
