This year we spent Thanksgiving Day with the Beck clan. I think it was the first time in many, many months we were all together for at least one hour, maybe two. Savannah had just had her wisdom teeth out the day before (which was the ONLY time she could), so she, Tom, and the kiddos didn't stay long. I got there a few hours early to help set up and get ready, only to find Shandee had used her incredible decorating and arranging talent and had everything already done. We waited around until everyone showed up about an hour late. Classic. We (meaning I) didn't really coordinate the vegetable dish so I made 5 pounds of cooked carrots and so did Amber. Oh well. The kids ran around and screamed until we sent them to the basement. The grown-ups watched YouTube videos of adults acting like turkeys and getting (pretend) shot and carried off. We read reviews of Haribo Sugar Free Gum Bears, which resulted in tears of laughter. We talked about wisdom teeth and Shandee topped off the night with the story of her removal, which she said, "I thought it was no big deal, didn't hurt that bad. Then I found out later the dumb dentist had removed my molars, not my wisdom teeth." I thought I was going to die. Really, it was so funny. It's just like me to not really take pictures of the family. But sure enough I got pics of the decor...
The day before, at school, Copper made instructions on how to catch a turkey. "First, I will ask my dad if I can have a gun. And I am going to go outside. Next I am going to find a log. And I am going to wait for a turkey to come by. Last I shot it. My family is having Thanksgiving dinner. It was the best." Haha. I love it... "I will ask my dad for a gun..."

Making a turkey cheeseball. Tim thought it looked like a porcupine. Either way, it was a hit.
My ten year old beautiful nice Madisyn had her wallet stolen at the mall; someone swiped about $25 in cash and turned her wallet in empty. A neighbor heard about it and by the end of the day, others heard about it and gave her money as a replacement. She ended up with $33 dollars- making money off her tragedy. My sister taught her a lesson in paying it forward, so she gave her much beloved (dirty, one armed) penguin to Dakota, who had thrown a major, major, screaming tantrum the day before when she couldn't have it. Lessons learned: Madisyn learned to do something nice for someone else when others did nice to her; Kota learned she'll get what she wants if she throws a big enough fit. Oh well. She loves that dumb little penguin.
I was in charge of the kiddie table. Brown paper tablecloth with turkey crayon holders. Masterpieces everywhere. Want a nice table with kids who love to color? Cover it in a paper, it's a hit.
I love my little craft machine. New banner for the kitchen shelf, a new charger that reminds us of our blessings (it's hard to see in the pic) and a wooden "give thanks" sign in six different languages. I love crafts. No wonder my girls do.
