Tuesday morning we got up early (5:30) and were in California by 11:00. I thought I'd do more of my share of driving, but when we hit traffic in the city, I got more than agitated. It took us another TWO hours to get to Anaheim! We drove straight to Disneyland and paid an atrocious $18 for parking. No time to look for our hotel yet, we gotta get our Disney on!

Beforehand, I took advantage of Pinterest ideas and made our own Minnie Mouse ears, name tags, and an autograph book for the characters. By the time we got there, nobody really cared, haha.
The girls loved the castle, the rides, the shops! We paid an outrageous amount for popcorn and churros and Diet Coke. Totally worth it. We checked out souvenirs and told the girls they had three days to look before I'd let them buy. It was a hard sell for Micah. Copper and Taryn tried their hardest to pull out the sword in the stone; Tim showed them how it couldn't be done. Haha.
Copper and Tim were stuck together like glue; she loves her dad! With Grandma around, Micah did NOT need her mom. She suckered Grandma into holding her and carrying her all around.
We found It's A Small World. It was hot, hot, hot (!) in the mid 90s, and the line was long. The cool-aired building made a sweet haven. Plus, the song was set in our heads for the rest of the week. The girls sang it over and over and over...
Most of the lines weren't long- maybe 15-20 minutes (some shorter) and most of the time, the girls were smiles and laughter...
Sometimes, though, the heat got to us and the girls found any way they could to cool down.
We rode Dumbo, Nemo's Submarine, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Pinocchio. We sat in Tea Cups for pictures but decided to do the ride later. Taryn convinced me to go on Matterhorn with she and Tim. I was quickly reminded I don't really care for roller coasters, even mild ones. Too bad I didn't get a picture- too fast and jerky. Taryn had a blast.
We headed to Toon Town, where Micah fell in love with a small roller coaster and the other two would have nothing to do with it. Grandma and Taryn took Micah on the ride of her life and Copper, Dad, Mom, and Dakota waited in line to see Goofy. Dakota's apprehension is pretty clear- she refused to stand by him and hid her eyes during all the pictures. Sitting in Goofy's car and playing in Goofy's Playhouse made up for it.
Then off to Mickey's house to sit on his sofa and chair, tour his house, and meet The Man with Ears. Copper was super bummed we'd forgotten our autograph book on the first day... but happy he kissed her hand and posed right next to her. Dakota's bravery came through with Mickey and she loved it. Micah was still on the coaster and missed him!
We bought a $9 bucket of popcorn and a $3 bottle of Pepsi. When I say bucket, I mean an incredibly small bucket. I guess you pay the big bucks for magical popcorn.
We decided to take a break for dinner and found a cozy Italian restaurant a few blocks away. While waiting for pizza and noodles, Dakota and Micah fell asleep and couldn't wake up to eat. Copper had a few bites and couldn't stop yawning. Taryn barely ate and wanted to lie down. We headed back to the hotel thinking we may return to the park but decided to let the gals sleep after a long (and playful!) day. Disneyland Day One: Check.
