The clouds have enveloped us for weeks now, with lots and lots and lots of rain. I'm so grateful for the rain and so ready for the heat, all at the same time.
Copper finished her 4th grade State of Utah final project. She's been working on this book and its contents all year and it contains more than anyone needs to know of our dear state. I'm proud of how hard she worked and super impressed by her wood burning for the cover!
It's the end of the school year and so comes the flood of everything else that comes with it. The second grade had its first annual bike safety and parade day; the twins were stoked to bring their (new, early birthday present) bikes and learn safety and form from the local high schools' mountain biking teams. "Kids, make sure you bring your multi-tool with you when you ride, and don't forget to take good care of the drive chain." Hahaha. They rode around the block in the pouring rain, got freezing, and a few of them were crying. Oh well.
It was also Mr. C's first annual pet day. I brought Red first thing in the morning, a bit worried that he'd go crazy. He did a pretty good job. Later on they had other dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, and two sheep come to 2nd grade. Who knew it'd be successful but I guess it was a great day- no animals fought, got hurt, died, or ran away, and only two students (including Micah) got sheep poop all over their shoes.
And, the infamous dance festival. The second graders danced away to Jail House Rock, and their teacher dressed up like Elvis, haha, and the fourth graders danced to a song nobody's probably heard of. They all did a cute job. The school was wonderful enough to invite the Highland Fire Department to spray the kids with the firehose after, in good fun... too bad it was 50 degrees outside, rainy, and cloudy. Dozens of parents, including myself, returned to the school and hour later to bring drenched kids a change of clothes for the rest of the day. Good planning, Freedom Elementary.
