Life the past few weeks

Cameron got a bunny and the kids fell in love.  Especially Dakota, who has begged for one.  She's by far the animal lover in the family and hasn't stopped talking about it.  We made a deal that if she earned $50 (the price of half the small hutch we found), we'd get her one.  The girl hasn't stopped working.  She has worked her tail end off, asking us every day about any extra chores she can do or who she can go work for.  She has $20+ so far...

I took Friday off because this week has about killed me.  It was so nice to spend a few days working in the yard, enjoying the sunshine, and watching spring bring things to life. Look at my cute new tree! Getting out the half-tent was the best idea I've had in awhile. The girls made a new game: Corona Tag.  Ha! The other night we had BLT's and it reminded me of how much I love spring/summer meals and grilling.  Copper made the rolls, which is why we have 50...

Tim's been chain-sawing the lilac trees in the back.  Dakota and I worked four hours on Friday to get them cleaned up to the bottoms so the stumps can be ripped out. She's a hard worker when she's getting paid for it.

The bushes were overtaking our whole back-end of the yard.  They aren't too easy to maintain, especially when I don't try, haha.  The lady behind us says she's sad to have them go, but also that she thinks they've never been pruned in the 17 years she's lived behind them.  They got so thick they created a wall of moss and snails; too thick to rake out leaves and anything else that gets blown by the north Lehi wind.  Once the stumps are out, we're building a shed in the west corner, garden boxes in the middle, the bunny hutch next to that, and an area with one lilac tree and dirt area we're keeping so that Red can see his backyard neighbor-friend pooch.

 In other news...
We dyed the girls' hair again.  Copper's is a more fantastic bright red; we might take it out and try a bright purple.  Kota's is a soft purple, and Micah chose the brightest blue there was.  I also cut Kota's hair just below her shoulders.  I finally convinced her to let me try, despite Copper's warnings.  We call it the corona-cut.

The other week we played "Who wants to pretend to be King Benjamin and yell to his people" and two-thirds of the kids thought it was a good idea.  Anytime Dakota can stand tall on a stool and talk loudly (yell) to others and be their leader... she's in.

We went to Amber's to see her chicks and ended up staying a bit.  We made homemade funnel cake with fresh strawberries, cream, syrup, and more.  Yummy.  We also played Redneck Life.  My name was Betty Sue and eight of my nine kids ended up being named Darrell.  I haven't laughed that hard in a long time... so funny.

These girls!

Last week we took our first "Sunday Selfie" and I think we'll do it every Sunday.  Micah was not in the mood.  Copper looks like a beautiful teenager instead of a beautiful ten year old.  Kota's waving her arms because she never sits still.  Tim always looks good.

We spent lots of nights and Saturdays entertaining the idea of the girls having their own room and getting rid of the playroom.  So we did, and then spent lots of nights and Saturdays going through everything, painting, and shifting.  They all couldn't be happier.  We're waiting on new bedding, mirrors, and hanging up bulletin boards/pictures, but they're all sleeping in their own spaces now!  We're taking bets to see which twin's room is cleaner, since they've both blamed each other for years on whose crap is everywhere.  I'm betting on Micah being the messier, but Copper might take them all.

Easter-ish, belt exams, and more

Micah's belt exam was last month.  She advanced to the top of three brown belts and her junior black belt exam will be this fall.  She asked me not to tell or invite anyone except Auree... and Auree is her karate friend. She said, "only karate people there except you guys."  Copper was in NY, so it was just Tim and I and Dakota.  Kota's phone died about one hour into the almost four hours we were there, and what a trooper. Haha. Micah is awesome! While waiting they had to do all sorts of "the grind" exercises.  Here she had to put her feet on her friend (boy Ronan) legs and then do push ups. It looked really hard. Jujitsu fighting with friend (girl) Ronan... Three hours in and she just sat and took a break.  She looked beat. I'm grateful for girl Ronan's friendship with Micah.  They're all such great friends with her. Ronan, Kristine, and Micah Ms. Kassie came back to see everyone who was advanced testing! Micah was thrilled; this is her mentor...

She's Here!

Yea! Copper is here and is so beautiful! She was born on June 8, 2009 after a surprise "You're not leaving the hospital" induction. She was 6.13 pounds and 18.5 inches long. She had the cord around her neck twice, so she was this dark haired, albino skin girl with quivering lips. But so cute! She got some color right away and has stayed pink since! Here's a few pics...
We went to California! Micah has her annual karate in the woods event through ISKA, and this year we decided to take the whole family and go a few days early. It kind of stinks because the girls had 4 days of school and then we took off! I don't regret it though. They are hard workers and they got caught up pretty fast.  We got there really early Wednesday morning after an early flight, and started off the day off with a baseball game with the San Francisco Giants. Micah is now baseball's biggest fan. Especially the Giants, and especially number 51. I can't remember his name but she knows everything including his stats. 🤣 Wednesday we also walked Pier 39 and about exhausted ourselves from a very long day.  Thursday we hit the national monument and visitor center of the Golden Gate bridge and then walked along it until we got a pretty decent view of the ocean. So pretty! After that we spent the whole rest of the afternoon at the San Francisco zoo. I think this was Dakota...
