The Rolling Stones and a five year old

Cassie: "What kind of snack do you want?" Taryn: "What do you have?" Cassie: "You can have a banana, granola bar, cheese,..." Taryn: "I don't want those." Cassie: "Well you don't always get what you want." Taryn: (singing) "But if you try sometimes, you just might find... you get what you need..." Then she forgot all about the snack and kept singing.

Orange ball Saturday

Yesterday the doc informed us Copper has a minor ear infection and is getting FOUR! new teeth at once. So...nobody's having any fun this weekend. Tim bought Copper a new orange ball to cheer her up. Secretely though, it was to cheer himself up. So far he's hit me in the head twice, knocked it into the pot of water on the stove, bounced it off the keyboard, and hit the window. Springtime will mean no kickball in the house... The ball may not have cheered her up, but a bath did!

Life at eight months

I love to stand and can't wait to walk. I love to eat all foods; some of my favorites are spaghetti and yogurt. I don't quite crawl on all fours, but I get around, and into everything. I love the movie basket and have no problem dumping them everywhere. I have a wicked pitch and can throw my binkie at least two rows in front of me during church. I have brown thick hair which can now be pulled into a ponytail. I love songs, especially "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree" and any one my dad makes up to get me to stop crying. I am just starting to like the pool. I don't really like strangers. I giggle at: being in shopping carts, songs sung by children, rocking on the top of the rocking chair, the movie Shrek, being tickled, and playing hide and seek and peek-a-boo. I am almost twenty pounds- twenty! I still have blue eyes and super long eye lashes. I love life at EIGHT MONTHS!

Sometimes A Pickle...

...Is Just A Pickle. And sometimes it's more. Skid steer. This is what I played with at work today. I've never really experienced sandplay until we did a group play hour at work today to get a better understanding of it. Out of all the toys on the table, this is the one I picked b/c it reminded me of Tim and how he loves driving machines in the dirt. I really picked it for that reason. I explained that it was there to move mounds of sand- that's it's job, that's what it does, that's all it does. That's what it was created for and it doesn't do anything else. It moves sand to get from one place to another. There's a whole lot of sand for one tiny machine. And there's a whole lot of things in the way to even get the sand cleared. So it's going to take a long time. Do I even need to ask How is this familiar in my life? Seems pretty clear to me. Even if I just saw it as a plain old pickle, as sometimes it is, the mounds of sand are ...

Happy Birthday Tim!

TIM: Learns quickly. Is funny. Is named after a Star Trek character. Talks in a high-pitched voice to Copper. Plays games with me. Goes on walks with us. Laughs at funny things. Tries hard in all he does. Has immense faith. Is grounded. Is worthy ofthe priesthood. Is mellow, good natured, and yes, stubborn. Doesn't mind watching Shrek daily. Listens to me ramble. Licks batter and eats dough. Sneaks Diet Pepsi from my parent's garage and fills his pockets. Makes Copper giggle more than anyone else can. Brushes his teeth in the morning before doing anything else. Has a way of making Primary kids listen to him. Is patient in many ways. Recites Clint Eastwood movies. Likes hard work. Can do large mathematical problems in his head. Does the dishes and laundry. Blows raspberry kisses on Copper's stomach. Supports all my crazy ideas. Is easily entertained. Loves us!
